Payments

Let employers pay you to post, and keep what they pay

A job board earns when employers buy posts. You set the packages and the prices, employers pay into your own Stripe account or by bank transfer, and JobClay adds their credits and issues the invoice.

Free plan, no card needed.

What’s included

  • Your own packages

Name each package, set its price, how many job posts and featured posts it holds and how many days each runs.

  • Cards, into your Stripe account

Connect your own Stripe account. Card payments go to it, not through JobClay.

  • Bank transfer

Show your bank details to employers, then mark the order paid when the money arrives.

  • Featured posts

Featured jobs sit above the rest of your listings for as many days as the package says.

  • A free allowance

Let every company post some jobs free each month, as many as you choose, or turn free posting off.

  • Invoices and tax

Numbered invoices and credit notes as PDFs, with your business details and your tax line.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set your packages

Create the packages employers can buy, and choose how many free posts each company gets a month.

  2. 2

    Choose how you are paid

Connect your Stripe account for cards, offer bank transfer, or both.

  3. 3

    Employers buy, you invoice

When an order is paid, JobClay adds the credits to the employer’s company and issues a numbered invoice.

How do I make money from a job board?

The usual way is to charge employers to post. On JobClay you create packages that hold job posts and featured posts, set your own prices, and employers buy them from your board. You can also let companies post a few jobs free each month to win your first employers, and charge for more.

Does JobClay take a cut of what employers pay?

No. Employers pay you directly, and JobClay adds nothing to the charge. You pay JobClay for your plan, and what employers pay stays with you, less only Stripe’s own fees on card payments.

How do card payments work?

You connect your own Stripe account from the console, using Stripe’s own sign-up. When an employer chooses to pay by card, they pay on a Stripe checkout page and the money goes to your account. Card details go to Stripe and never reach JobClay. Once Stripe confirms the payment, the employer’s credits are added and the invoice is issued.

Can employers pay by bank transfer?

Yes. You write the bank details and instructions that employers see, and they place an order. When the money reaches your account you mark the order as paid, and JobClay then adds the credits and issues the invoice. You can offer bank transfer, card, or both.

What can I sell?

Packages. Each one holds job post credits, featured post credits, or both, with a price, the number of days each post or featured spot runs, and how long the credits stay valid. An employer spends one credit each time they publish or feature a job, and a company’s team shares its credits.

Can I let employers post for free?

Yes, in three ways. Free posting can be off, so every job needs a credit. It can be unlimited. Or each company can get a set number of free posts every calendar month, in your board’s time zone. Your plan’s limit on live jobs applies to free posts; jobs employers pay for are not held back by that limit.

Does JobClay make invoices and handle tax?

It issues a numbered invoice for every paid order, and a numbered credit note when you refund or reverse one, both as PDFs. You enter your business’s legal name and address, an optional tax number, and one tax line with its name and rate, and say whether your prices already include it. Invoices say what you set. JobClay does not work out what tax you owe, so ask your accountant for the rate.

What if an employer’s payment is refunded?

For a card payment you refund in Stripe, and when Stripe reports the refund or a lost dispute JobClay issues a credit note for it. For a bank transfer you marked paid by mistake, you issue the credit note yourself. Either way the credits the employer has not yet used are taken back, and credits already spent on live jobs stay spent.
