How do I get my job board’s jobs onto Google?
Google shows jobs from pages that carry job posting data. Every job page on a JobClay board has it, and your sitemaps list the pages. You can also connect Google’s Indexing API with your own Google Cloud key, so Google hears about new and closed jobs within minutes instead of waiting to crawl them.
What is IndexNow, and does my board use it?
IndexNow is a way to tell search engines that a page was added, changed or removed. Bing, Yandex and other engines that accept it hear about your new and closed job pages within minutes. It is on by default for every board, needs nothing from you, and you can switch it off in the console.
Does JobClay use Google’s Indexing API?
Yes, with a key from your own Google Cloud project. You create a project, turn on the Web Search Indexing API, make a service account and upload its key, then add the service account as an owner in Google Search Console. Google gives each project a daily quota of notifications, and JobClay shows how many you have used. Jobs already live when you connect reach Google through your sitemap.
Does a job board need a page for each skill and city?
It helps, because people search for jobs that way: nursing jobs in Boston, Rust jobs, remote jobs. JobClay builds a page for each term in the lists you choose, for each place, and for remote work, and lists the live jobs on each. You edit the title and description templates they use.
Does JobClay make sitemaps?
Yes. Every board gets a sitemap index with sitemaps for its jobs, companies, landing pages and content pages, and a robots.txt that names it. They update as jobs open and close. An RSS feed of your jobs is included too.
Can I keep my old addresses when I move my board to JobClay?
Yes. In the console you list each old address and the page it should lead to, and visitors and search engines are sent there with a permanent redirect. Add them before you switch your domain, so the old pages keep their place in search.
Does JobClay guarantee my jobs will rank?
No one can. What JobClay does is the technical groundwork: the job data, the sitemaps, the landing pages and the notices to search engines. Ranking also depends on having real, fresh jobs and content, which is why job sources and a blog are part of the product too.
