JobClay vs Job Boardly

JobClay and Job Boardly both run a job board on your own domain and take employers’ payments through your own Stripe account. Job Boardly’s entry plan leans on volume: a backfill drawn from millions of jobs, room for 10,000 active jobs and several languages. JobClay starts on a free plan and keeps XML feeds, webhooks and employer subscriptions on every plan, where Job Boardly saves them for Pro.

Which to pick

Pick Job Boardly if a large backfill of imported jobs and room for many active jobs on the entry plan matter most, or you need several languages, applicant stages you name yourself, or messaging inside the product. Pick JobClay if you want a free plan that asks for no card, or XML feeds, webhooks and employer subscriptions without upgrading, and employers who can pay by bank transfer too.

Tests anyone can repeat

The sample is the three boards on Job Boardly’s community showcase (jobboardly.com/community-showcase). We ran each board’s home page, and peeljobs.com’s, through PageSpeed Insights (pagespeed.web.dev) on its mobile setting, all within ten minutes: Lighthouse 13.6 on an emulated Moto G Power with slow 4G throttling. Each figure is one run per board, on the day shown; peeljobs.com ran twice, scoring 93 and then 94, and the table shows the second run. Scores move a few points from run to run, so run them again there. For job data we opened one job page per board as any visitor would and read its JSON-LD for the properties Google’s job posting guide requires: title, description, date posted, hiring organization, and a location whose address names its country or, for a remote job, at least one country applicants may live in. peeljobs.com is JobClay’s only live board: JobClay’s own board #1, on a complimentary plan.

Choose JobClay if

  • You want a free plan to try your niche on, where Job Boardly’s trial asks for a card up front.
  • You want XML feeds, webhooks and employer subscriptions from day one, without moving up to Pro.
  • Some of your employers would rather pay by bank transfer, which you mark as paid when it arrives.

Choose Job Boardly if

  • You want a large backfill of imported jobs, with room for 10,000 active jobs on the entry plan.
  • Your board must speak more than one language.
  • You want applicant stages you name yourself, or employers and candidates messaging inside the product.
  • You want an API, management or headless, for your own tools.
  • You want Stripe Tax to work out the sales tax on each order.

Moving your board from Job Boardly

Export your employers and your jobs from your old board as CSV files, and upload them on the Import page of your console, on every plan. You match the columns, check a preview that lists every problem, and import. Employers come across with their companies, and when you are ready JobClay emails each one a link to set a password. Your open jobs keep the date they were posted. Old addresses keep working: give a job or company its old address in the file and the import adds a redirect, so visitors and search engines are sent to the new page. Job seeker accounts, job alert subscribers, applications, orders, paid credits and subscriptions do not carry over, so job seekers sign up again on your new board. Write to hello@jobclay.com and we’ll help you move.

Questions

More about what JobClay does:

Related pages:

Does Job Boardly have a free plan?

No. Every Job Boardly plan starts with a 14-day trial, and its pricing page says a card is needed to start, with nothing charged until the trial ends. JobClay’s Free plan needs no card and has no end date: it is a working board on a yourname.jobclay.app address, with smaller limits than the paid plans.

Can I read XML feeds on the entry plan?

On JobClay, yes: an XML feed is one of your job sources on every plan, read in Indeed’s format with no setup or in another format once you map its fields. Job Boardly lists its XML importer from the Pro plan, with a CSV importer for jobs on every plan.

Can employers subscribe instead of buying one post at a time?

On JobClay, any package can be a monthly or yearly subscription on every plan. Employers subscribe by card into your own Stripe account, and their job posts refill each paid period. Job Boardly lists employer subscriptions from its Pro plan.

Where is Job Boardly the stronger choice?

Volume and reach: its entry plan allows 10,000 active jobs and imports from a backfill of more than 12 million listings, and every plan runs in several languages. It also offers applicant stages you name yourself, messaging on its Ultra plan, a management API from Pro and Stripe Tax for sales tax, none of which JobClay has. Instead of an API, JobClay’s webhooks, on every plan, let Zapier or Make connect.
